Josef Ostermayer was sworn in as Federal Minister on 16 December 2013 by Federal President Heinz Fischer. He held the position of the Federal Minister for Arts and Culture, Constitution and Public Service from 1 March to 1 September 2014. He took office as Federal Minister for Arts and Culture, Constitution and Media on 2 September 2014.
In this capacity, he performs the following tasks:
- arts and culture
- constitutional affairs
- media affairs
- affairs related to public administration
- denominational affairs
- affairs concerning the archives
In the Faymann Cabinet I (i.e. from 2008 to 2013), Josef Ostermayer had been active as a State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery.
